Every season there's a trend which wows fashion lovers and layman alike. This season that trend was the harem pant. The look came down countless runways from Ralph Lauren to McQueen and even the intermingled with the classic silhouettes of Diane von Furstenberg. With the resurgence of harem pants(otherwise known as "Hammer pants" for us '80's babies, many of UrbanLuxe fashionistas have wondered just how well the look can be translated from catwalk to sidewalk. Many fashion forward celebs such as Naomi Campbell and Jennifer Lopez have been photographed wearing these pants, and they look great. But we're still left with a bit of uncertainty for women with, well, normal body types.
If you're looking to take on the trend, we recommend pairing your harem pants with a heel. Sky-high stilettos will eliminate the frump factor and add a seriously sexy line to the portion of leg not enveloped in the pants.
Harem pants come in many different lengths from the shorter calf-length like ($66) or McQ Wool Blend Harem Pant ($270). We personally prefer the near ankle length Ralph Lauren Crepe De Chine Harem Pant ($646) or Twelve by Twelve Belted Knit Harem Pant ($26). Be sure to keep the top sleek and simple.
